Maintenance Engineer (electrically biased)

We’re actively seeking a competent, multi-skilled maintenance engineer, for a promising opportunity to join an innovative manufacturer who remain a world leading expert in their space. If you’re comfortable with both mechanical and especially electrical installation, as well as fault-finding and testing, then you could be a great fit for this role.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining the plant and equipment factory-wide, attending to breakdowns and carrying out safety testing, all in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with legislative and safety obligations.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carry out Mechanical and Electrical remedial, maintenance and testing activities in a safe manner, identifying and reporting all potential or actual hazards
  • Respond to breakdowns, fault finding activity and requests for assistance in a timely manner
  • Install services to new equipment when necessary
  • Construct/refurbish equipment and provide general maintenance support as required
  • Monitor correct functioning of key processes e.g. extraction systems
  • Take part in the Emergency Response, Chlorine Response and Out of Hours Maintenance Call-out Team processes as scheduled.
  • Assist in the compilation of maintenance schedules and perform routine preventative maintenance checks as required.
  • Ensure the effluent treatment plant is operating in accordance with work instructions, notifying the environmental team of any failures
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively with the team and staff in other departments to achieve a strong team ethic and an efficient working plant and machinery
  • Set an example for others by promoting the Company Vision and Values, acting as a role model of good work practices for other staff
  • Supporting of the general site facility and maintenance needs

 

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Qualified to 17th or 18th IEE Wiring Regulations
  • Electrical qualified to City & Guilds (Part 236 1,2) OR level 3 NVQ electrical qualifications or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Maintenance or Engineering environment
  • Fully qualified to carry out Electrical and Mechanical work in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Sound electromechanical engineering background
  • Computer literate with office packages (e.g. Microsoft office)
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent to grade C or above including Maths & English

 

Desirable Experience

  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, inverters, temperature controllers etc.
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge of general buildings maintenance
