Hydraulic Workshop Engineer/Fitter – CV3

Osprey Engineering Solutions has recently been approached by a very well-known hydraulic systems manufacturer based near Coventry

Our client has recently won a bid on a new facility and are relocating to CV3 in early 2019. Meanwhile, they’re looking at hiring a hydraulic engineer/fitter for immediate start!

Salary: £24,000-£31,000 P/A – D.O.E

Overtime: Available as of when

Progression: Into a service engineer / workshop supervisor

The role of the Hydraulic/Mechanical Fitter in my client’s company is to assist in the manufacturing, installation and servicing of hydraulic systems. The position will report to the Operations Manager. The responsibilities will be;

  • Manufacture brackets for holding components from steel using welding techniques and metal working skills.
  • Build up hydraulic systems from engineering drawings to include;
    • Building up motor pump sets, ensuring drive shafts fit by sanding and making up keys.
    • Building up reservoirs, including internal paint, installation of bulkhead fittings and fitting tank accessories.
    • Mounting valves in pipe work or on manifolds.
    • Installing hydraulic and lubrication system pipe work, cutting and bending. Also, swaging hydraulic hoses.
  • Testing of hydraulic valves, cylinders and accumulators.
  • Assisting on-site services with the maintenance of hydraulic systems.
  • Installation of hydraulic systems at customer’s premises.
  • Assist in the test of hydraulic & lubrication systems.
  • Be trained in other activities such as paint & hydraulic fault finding.
  • Undertake other tasks, within your capability, as directed by the Workshop Supervisor.


Applicants must be self-starting and keen to work in an engineering environment that produces bespoke equipment. Experience of working in an engineering business with hands on and mechanical fitting skills are essential.

Good customer service skills are preferable.
