If you’re a hard working, hands-on Area Sales Manager with a successful track record, we’d like to discuss an exciting vacancy for a dynamic, forward thinking compressed air systems provider, who have an international presence and have been established for more than 100 years.

As an Area Sales Manager reporting directly to the UK Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for increasing sales of new and after market products to both new and existing UK distributors within your region. You’ll excel in this role if you’re a team player who is target driven, with a track record of growing key accounts in an industrial distribution management business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Assist in the Development and implementation of a sales strategy for your region to include;
    – Developing and identifying new sales via Distribution channels and OEM customers
    – Managing Key/Target Distributor and OEM accounts.
    – Producing sales presentations and technical support of new and existing products to Distributors and OEM customers
  • Ensure sales revenue & volume targets are met or exceeded
  • Support distributors by visiting their end user customers;
    – conducting surveys / data logging of existing equipment / compressed air systems
    – Identifying and recommending solutions to improve efficiency and overall system design
    – Preparing and presenting sales offers, data logging reports and attend out-briefing meetings with customers
  • Attend regular review meetings with your line manager and sales team to ensure company objectives are met
  • Contribute ideas and strategic thinking to develop the company’s strategic direction
  • Provide accurate sales reports and forecasts for UK Management as necessary
  • Ensure company database is maintained, existing customer information is updated, adding new prospects, sales offers and reports as necessary
  • Develop and maintain first-hand knowledge of the business profile of key accounts and competitors distributors within the territory, maintaining contact with “key” personnel
  • Use Market Intelligence, to define and recommend market opportunities by product line, market segment and geographical area
  • Promote a professional company image in all dealings with distributors, suppliers and employees

Essential Competencies & Experience

  • Strong people skills, with an ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven track record (preferably 5 years) of results in compressed air equipment sales, with a demonstrable ability to manage and grow key accounts in an industrial distribution management business
  • Experience of Data logging Compressed Air systems; providing reports and attending out-briefing meetings
  • High level PC literacy and good analytical skills
  • Ability to accurately prepare sales forecasts and territory reports
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, persistent, self-motivated with ability to work both autonomously and as part of the UK team; e.g. sales, operations, service and finance.
  • PC literate, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint with good analytical skills.
  • Personal effectiveness; with demonstrated qualities of consistency, diplomacy, discretion, risk-taking and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel within UK. Some travel to European meetings will also be necessary.
  • Full UK Driving License, with safe driving record
  • Experience of working for a product manufacturer either directly or in a subsidiary of an international company, is a distinct advantage (not required)
