Application (Graduate) Project Engineer

We’re searching for an ambitious Mechanical Engineering graduate who has a real desire to forge a career in Engineering, to become a valuable addition to our client’s Application Engineering team. You’ll work directly with customers and liaise closely with a variety of internal teams to support our client’s future growth strategy, specifically in the area of mobile electrification applications and system design.

 

This role has a significant emphasis on personal development, offering one-to-one mentoring together with general training, to help build product knowledge, experience and general capabilities. Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design systems and sub-systems in line with customer requirements
  • Construct circuit drawings and associated BOM’s
  • Provide front line technical support to field sales presenting proposals to customers
  • Work closely with field sales to actively identify potential to support future growth
  • Project manage systems through the build process, working closely with Division to ensure the specification parameters and quality expectations are met
  • Provide a technical interface between customer, Sales force and Division
  • Take responsibility for the creation of local technical files
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of products and technology within the fluid power industry
  • Actively seek and attend technical product development events to further personal knowledge
  • Participate in project team meetings as required
  • May be required to provide training to customers

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Interpret customer requirements and transpose to a working viable solution
  • Work with Division to reach a costed proposal and provide technical quotes to field sales
  • Work with field sales and customers to secure orders
  • Provide first line of communication between customer and field sales associated with Project management ensuring a smooth transition through to completion.
  • Construct CAD 2D drawings of proposed fluid power systems for technical file and customer reference
  • Ensure quality standards are achieved on all fluid power systems and assemblies to satisfy Company and customer standards and expectations.

 

 Candidate Requirements

  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; however, consideration will be given to candidates who possess an ONC/HNC Mechanical & Production Engineering as a minimum
  • Prior fluid power experience advantageous or a strong desire to enter the fluid power industry
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision if required
  • Previous experience in CAD would be an asset
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people at all levels of a cross-functional, inter-company team
  • Ability to travel (full driving license required)

Other Information

  • Willingness to participate in job enhancement training both locally and remotely
  • Requires the ability to travel, sometimes at short notice (occasionally to other European countries)
